One of the best parts about living in LA is award show weekends. The parties are like none other in the world. They are extravagant, star-studded, and the best part…. they all have open bars.
I think Grammy weekend is my favorite, selfishly, because I feel no jealousy towards people being honored for their success in Music. When it comes to the Emmys, The Globes, or the Oscars- I can't help but wish that I was there, being nominated for my acting ability, with music… I think I have just accepted that I will never win a Grammy… Unless they make an award for "Best Performance whilst singing into a steering wheel".
Another great thing about Grammy weekend parties are the performances!
This year I kicked the weekend off by attending the OK Magazine Grammy Pre-party on Thursday night with my friends Katelyn & Taylor and my co-star from Roommates on Elm Street, Melissa Cordero. Nico & Vinz did a KILLER performance & a great time was had by all!
I was lucky enough to get to wear an INSANELY gorgeous dress for the red carpet by JMCouture , the photos don't even do it justice.
Friday night my friends Lindsay, Phu, & I headed over the the Gem the App & Fame Music party to benefit Made in Africa at Soho House. I was way more excited than I should publicly admit to finally be invited to the swanky members only club & I had an absolute blast! Unfortunately- Skrillex was set to perform and the fire marshall shut down the guest list before he got there, so no Skrillex performance for us :(
I then headed over to meet friends at 1 Oak for the Galore Magazine party to see Charli XcX perform & stayed there until the end of the night!
Saturday, I decided that I don't like open bars as much as I thought I did (so much ouch) & stayed in to watch a documentary about JK Rowling on Netflix, Yes, sometimes I am a nana.
That leads us into Grammy Sunday! Now last year I was lucky enough to actually win a lottery ticket to the awards and got to be there in person- sadly, I did not get lucky 2 years in a row so I was reduced to being a mere peasant and watching it on TV like everyone else.
The one positive thing about that is that I was able to actually watch the Red Carpet! So without further ado, here are my top picks for Best Dressed at tonight's awards!
Taylor Swift in Elie Saab… this is just PERFECTION, on trend, Grammy Appropriate, just stunning…. side note- who the fuck is Taylor's trainer, tell them to give me a call, her body is dope.
I rarely dislike anything Katy does, She is my spirit animal, & this was no exception, good job Zuhair Murad, her toenail polish even matches her hair. All hail.
Now people may disagree with me on this one but I think Charli Xcx looked fantastic, it's like she's a hot power lesbian at a 1980's prom, & I mean that in the BEST possible way, if there is one award show where you can pull this off, the Grammys are it.
I'm slightly confused by the shoe choice, but I love this suit on Nick Jonas so much that I'm willing to overlook them.
Everything about this is perfection, including the man inside the suit.
Ok next up are the things that I am just a little confused about...
Oh God where do I start? I think Kim Kardashian & Kanye West are the single most arrogant and annoying celebs on the planet, I do however, usually think Kim looks on point… here, I am just so torn. I DO like this, but it reminds me of an insanely rich lady's bathrobe…. I am digging the shorter hair & slightly toned down makeup though.
Again, I don't HATE this, but this makes her look pregnant & it reminds me of a Barbie cake topper & I think it's WAY to formal for the Grammys...
Why were Ryan Seacrest, Aloe Blacc, & LL Cool J all wearing the same suit… Don't stylists talk????
Learn how to tie a bow tie, Chris Brown.
Alright well that's a wrap on Grammy Weekend everyone! I enjoyed every second of it!
