If you follow me on just about anything on social media, you probably know that I have been working on a new show called Roommates on Elm Street. What you may not know is that we are currently running a SECOND indie GoGo campaign to raise money for future episodes! Now, most of the project has been kept pretty under wraps but what I CAN tell you is that I play a character named Rue- Rue is a bitchy barista who is down on her luck- financially and romantically. She moves in with Victor, Kyle, & Krishna who are in the midst of filming an independently produced reality show. Oh & there is also JB, the unofficial roommate who parties hard & disappears often.
So let's start with the cast:
First we have Oto Gomes- Oto plays Victor with whom my character has an interesting relationship with. Oto is such a pleasure to work with! He is always in a good mood- even after 22 hours on set when we are literally running on coffee and Red Bull.
Next we have Mackenzie Trevor, who plays Kyle. Kyle is a quirky guy who is borderline obsessed with vampires and monsters. Mackenzie on the other hand is a breath of fresh air. Just when you think he is as sweet and innocent as his character- Mackenzie will say something so brazen & honest you kind of just want to shrink him, put him in your pocket, & keep him forever (that's not as creepy as it sounds ha).
Then we've got Melissa Cordero. Melissa plays Krishna- a lingerie loving ex-model who is constantly trying to get my character Rue to branch out and be sexy. Melissa herself is smart, witty, and sensationally gorgeous. We became fast friends on and off set. She is quite literally, the life of the party everywhere we go.
Then we've got my favorite New Yorker- Janel Smietana who plays Angula. Angula… may or may not be a vampire, but one thing is certain, Rue does not like her, which is actually quite hilarious on set because I adore Janel. As soon as Brad Lyon yells "CUT!" My first reaction is always "OMG Janel I hate having to be mean to you!" She is as sweet as she is talented and it is a PLEASURE to work with her.
Next we've got Steven, Rue's co-worker who is F-I-E-R-C-E. He's goat big mouth & tells it like it is. Steven is played by Bradley Hamilton who is making his film debut after an awesome career in theater! Bradley and I have become as close in real life as our characters are in the show (being that most of our scenes are together & we roomed together at our hotel while filming). We have spent plenty of down time in Michigan sharing secrets and watching Lindsay Lohan movies, & I couldn't ask for a better scene partner.
Then we have JB. What do I say about JB??? Well first let's start by telling you that he is played by Brad Leo Lyon, who is also the writer, producer, and director of the entire series. How Brad does all of this at once never ceases to amaze me. JB is a hard-partying lunatic who makes a lot of stupid mistakes, yet somehow usually manages to save the day, Brad however is anything but a lunatic. He is dedicated, intelligent, and a pleasure to work with.
& last but certainly not least, we have our landlord, who is played by none other than Todd Bridges who you may know from his roles on Different Strokes and Everybody Hates Chris. Todd is nothing short of hilarious & every time he cracks a joke it takes all of my strength not to reply "Whatchu talking bout Willis?". Todd is such a beautiful person, even after we wrapped our third episode and all went back to our lives- Todd is the first to send all of us a sweet little text to see how we are all doing.
So it's safe to say that I LOVE my cast, it's truly just filled with good-hearted, TALENTED individuals who are making me a better actor and a better person (is this mushy enough for you guys yet?!?!)
